Settling In - A Few Suggestions

- Create a map of the world with a pinpoint marking where your bear is currently located. You might need to zoom in and provide a close up of your school.
- Have the kids write some welcome letters that provide the bear with ten top tips for getting to school and coping once they arrive. A bear really needs to know which teachers to avoid and who they must get to know if they are going to fit in. Orientate the bear and make sure they are up to speed with any class rules.
- Prepare a timetable of night-time home hosts and make sure that the bear keeps a diary record that includes some photographs with family and friends.
- Make a wish list of places that the bear really must visit while they are with you. Take some photos of the bear at the canteen, in the playground, working in class, lining up, doing yard duty and at the Principal’s Office.
